A Note from the President

Hello everyone....

Well it looks as though the season is almost at the half way point. Hard to believe especially for some teams who have had nearly all their games rescheduled due to rain.

It looks like we are all having a fairly competitive, and for the most part trouble free season. I do know there have been a few issues with contacting me and I would like to address that now. I do check my email account for MCSL as often as I can, if you have an URGENT matter please contact me at CTERRANT19@AOL.COM this will ensure I see and can address your concern in a timely fashion as this is my work email.

I do have a few rule issues that I would like to remind all teams of:

At this point in the season all teams need to be in matching official uniforms. Beginning today I will make sure all umpires know to enforce the uniform rule. As a reminder on this matter it was made a league rule and is no longer a coach decision ALL PLAYERS MUST BE IN CORRECT UNIFORM OR THEY CAN NOT PLAY.

BATS: There are still some bats coming in to play that are not legal. I know at the beginning there was some com fusion on the crush bats and a few others which the umpires have worked out and are now in full understanding of the ASA approved bat list. However at this point the Freak and the Synergy still seem to pop up from time to time after all the talk at the beginning of the season I feel this is inexcusable. Coaches need to be looking for this and getting them put away before game time. If an umpire questions your bat please be cooperative in allowing him or her to look at the bat, as there are a lot of new bats out on the market. They are simply trying to do their job.

COURTESY RUNNERS AND SWITCHING MALE/FEMALE BALLS: There has been several questions of this rule. The runner rule is as follows it is a male for a male and female for a female who made the last out. If there is only one female on the team and she gets hurts based on Christian fellowship we ask that you at that point allow the last out to run for the hurt player if there are no substitutes available. REMINDER A PINCH RUNNER IS A SUBSTITUTION AND THE MALE FOR A MALE, FEMALE FOR FEMALE RULE DOES NOT APPLY. As for the small ball the women has the option to hit the small ball she does not have too if she does not want to.

LEGAL PLAYERS: Several churches have two teams in the league no one player can play on both teams. It has been reported and I have seen this happen on a few occasions. While it is true if you are short you can pick up a player, however you can not do so with a player that plays in the league at a higher division.

I have gotten several request and or complaints about make up games and the nights they are played on. We can not accommodate these request due to to our limited filed space and field times. I know it is difficult sometimes but we as players and league officials have to deal with the same issues, and often times play very short handed during make-up games. As I have suggested to many teams if you know a night of the week will be all but impossible for your team to play you need to submit that preseason when the BOD ask for scheduling conflicts. We do try to be workable and if things come up with reasonable notice we will try to reschedule, however please understand that this is not always possible.

While all of the above issues have simply been reminders I am very saddened that I do have to touch on a very negative issue, especially considering this is a church league. I have received several complaints throughout the league regarding LANGUAGE. *THIS IS A CHURCH LEAGUE BASED ON CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, THIS IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. *Please note that in my email to the umpires I will be advising that they need to mo niter and watch for unsportsmanlike conduct and take whatever measures they feel are needed to ensure a clean game.

Please check the website as all the rained out games have been rescheduled.

It is my hope that this email takes care of all issues that have come up and that we all continue to have a fun and competitive season.
