Minutes for February Coaches Meeting

Below are the minutes for the February Coaches meeting...

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 with prayer led by Jeff Brown. Jeff made a motion that Crystal Terrant be nominated for the office of President and Drew Walker be nominated for Vice President. There being no other nominations the motion passed unanimously.

League fee proposals was given by Jeff. Proposed were $950 for those teams playing at Valley View and $650 for the teams playing at Dean. A final league fee will be provided by March 7th. The fee is conditional on NSA proposal. Total league funds available were stated at $6353.85.

Jeff talked about the umpire contract. Woodbridge Umpires are asking for a $2 a game increase to $27 a game. Jeff moved that the contract be accepted. The motion was seconded but later amended so Jeff could inquire about a 2 yr contract to prevent another increase next year. The motion carried.

Fred Lewis discussed the difference in ASA and NSA. NSA provides equivalent insurance protection for fields, and officers at $0. NSA would save $65 per team. There is a difference in registration fees, while the rules are virtually the same. The biggest difference being the types of balls and bats allowed. Jeff made a motion that we switch to NSA. The motion was seconded and discussion included the ability to add our own rules governing bats and balls to be allowed. The motion passed unanimously.

A suggestion for a double elimination end-of-season tourney was put forward. And a request for a practice schedule.

A motion was made and seconded that the position of secretary be added to the board. It was approved that this also be a compensated position, equal with the other board members. (A team credit)

Division team layouts were tentatively discussed. Deadline for new teams is March 27th. All league fees are due at the next meeting March 27th 7pm.
